We’ve tried to answer any question you may have about us and our baked goods. But, if you have a question we didn’t answer, call us…we’re happy to talk to you about your specific needs so we can give you the best service possible and the dessert you desire!
Click on one of the topics to learn more.

Q: Do you use cake mixes for your lower fat desserts?

A: We bake everything from scratch with fresh ingredients only and we never use mixes.

Q: Do your baked goods contain preservatives or additives to keep their freshness and sweetness?

A: No, we do not use preservatives or additives in any of our gluten-free or lower fat baked goods. We use fresh and natural ingredients that contribute to texture and taste such as Callebaut chocolate, organic milk, real butter, low fat buttermilk, etc.

Q: Do you offer tastings?

A: Yes, for big events. We offer a free tasting for up to three people if the order is placed in advance.

Q: Do you have a storefront?

A: YES!!!!  We are open and running our regular hours. You can find us at 79 N. Beverwyck Road, Lake Hiawatha NJ, 07034

Q: Are you affiliated with catering halls?

A: We are currently the go-to gluten-free baker for the Stone House in Warren, NJ, and we are working on expanding to other restaurants and catering halls.

Q: Is The CakeOver kosher?

A: No, currently The CakeOver is not certified for kosher baking.

Q: Do you have products for other allergies?
Many of our gluten-free items are dairy-free as well. Please ask us which of our baked goods we have out and are dairy free (DF).  We do not keep peaunts in the store--one of my daughters has an allergy, so we do not use them. As far as soy, eggs, tree nuts, sugar, etc--ask and we can tell you what we have on premises. We handle many allergies, but not all. Please ask us for your particular needs.

Q: What is gluten?

A: Gluten is a protein found in foods like cereals and grains like wheat, rye, kamut, spelt, barley, and oat as well as foods made from these plants. Gluten helps with elasticity in foods during the fermentation phase of food production. It’s also what gives bread it’s chewiness.

Q: What is gluten-free?

A: In recent years, gluten awareness has increased due to the prevalence of wheat in food and how wheat is grown. More and more, doctors are checking for gluten intolerance. A gluten-free diet is becoming a growing necessity for some people, whether it’s Celiac related or a food allergy. In some cases, it has been linked to Autism in children and behavioral issues. If you have been diagnosed with a wheat intolerance or advised by a doctor to switch to a gluten-free diet, you shouldn’t have to give up your favorite desserts.

Q: Does gluten-free reduce or change the taste of baked goods?

A: Gluten-free doesn’t mean taste-free! Our baked goods pass the taste test because we use fresh natural gluten-free alternative grains and flours to maintain texture and add flavor to our desserts. We use a variety of flours like rice, brown rice, sorghum, tapioca, potato starch in our recipes.

Q: How do you ensure gluten-free baked goods are not cross-contaminated with other baked goods?

A: All gluten-free items are made in our dedicated bakery.

Q: How do I keep gluten-free baked goods fresh longer?

A: Storing gluten-free baked goods can be challenging but not impossible. They keep fresher longer when they are vacuum-packed. However, if you don’t have a food saver or vacuum-packing machine, you can wrap gluten-free items in plastic wrap, place them in a Ziploc bag, and freeze.

Q: Do you use a certain pre-mixed gluten-free blend?

A: No, we do not purchase or use any pre-made blend. We bake everything from scratch, and every recipe uses its own flour combination.

Q: How do you address certain food allergies?

A: We use fine natural ingredients in our baked goods and address allergy needs on an individual basis. For example, natural food dyes will be used upon request, nut free options upon request, etc.

Q: Is The CakeOver kosher?

A: No, currently The CakeOver is not certified for kosher baking.

Q: Does The CakeOver ship baked goods?

A: Currently, we do not ship any of our products.

Q: How do I place an order?

A: You can contact us by email, phone or stop by to discuss your needs for your event, or any occasion you’re planning.

Q: What are your payment methods?

A: We accept cash, check, Visa, Discover or Mastercard. For cake orders to serve 60 people or more, we require a 25% deposit upon ordering, and full payment with delivery.

Q: How far in advance should I place an order for my event?

A: A good rule of thumb is the sooner the better…but please call us to discuss your needs and we will do whatever it takes to complete your order when you need it! For big events like those held in catering halls, require at least 4 weeks notice. A rush charge will apply for orders placed three weeks or less in advance of the event, and if we can accommodate the order. For smaller cake orders serving up to 60 people, one week’s notice is required.
